It Brings a Smile

Cruising through MLS today I noticed a home for sale on Siesta Key. The home looked familiar to me. I finally realized that I turned down the listing on this particular home in the summer of 2007 because the owner was unrealistic about its value. I told the seller to list the property for $899,000 back in 2007. Even though I gave them plenty of evidence to support my valuation they wanted me to list it higher. I didn’t want to waste my time so they listed it with another Realtor for $1,199,000 in the summer of 2007.
To make a long story short the home has been on the market ever since then. It is now with a different Realtor and the current list price is $899,000. It put a little smile on my face because it affirmed my valuation skills as well as made me realize how much time and aggravation I saved myself by not taking that overpriced listing.
Seller Hint:
If you don’t agree with your Realtors valuation of your home spend a few hundred dollars and get an appraisal done. The small investment can save you time, money and aggravation.
