I went to a Michael Saunders and Company ‘Reinvent Yourself’ company conference yesterday. The event was great and it featured Matthew Ferrara and Steve Harney.
Michael Ferrara spoke about social networks like LinkedIn, Myspace, Facebook and blogging. The real estate industry is embracing this new format of relationship building. Facebook has 200 million users now and more and more Realtors are using social network to build their ’sphere of influence’ online. Ferrara had some great tips and statistics to show that this is the direction the industry is headed. However, remember that the fundamentals still work.
Steve Harney was another speaker as well. He was a Realtor for 25 years and then got on the speaking tour. He speaks at the best real estate companies around the nation and does it about 125 times a year. Steve had some great stats on the Sarasota real estate market and advice for all of the Realtors present. His charts and graphs showing market data were compelling.
I was lucky enough to be asked to sit on a panel about blogging and social networks. I was with Eric Bryn of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and Anand Pallegar with atLarge, Inc. They both had some great advice and information for the audience.
One tid bit of advice that Eric Bryn gave was about your online reputation. He suggested using a Google alert for your name to see if anyone was writing about you on the web. I am confident that this post will show up in his email alert.
All in all it was a great conference put on by Michael Saunders and Company. I think it helped a lot of people learn the basics of this growing medium.

Thanks for the tip about Google alert. Every conference has a few nuggets to take away and put to use.

I agree Tom. Your site looks great by the way.
Google Alerts are very good for reputation management, even better for link building
